    I have set up a group using the role unparsed method as follows:

    message group content

    Yet when I try to send a message, the drop down list does not include the group.

    By default group dropdown shows to only members of the group.
    Are you a user of “Members Only” role of your website? You can add yourself to that group to see that group in your dropdown.

    Many thanks – that was exactly the issue and it makes perfect sense that generating group messages be restricted to members of the group.
