Thanks very much for your thoughts and update.
If you can implement this, it will solve a good number of headaches for our membership. I will look forward to the next update to see if you managed to implement it.. π
Andrew
Andrew PerrymanParticipantThanks Shamim,
I will keep an eye on the update change log as you suggest.
Topic marked as resolved..
Andrew.
Andrew PerrymanParticipantMorning Shamim,
I decided to take a cleaner approach, so I created a directory βfront-end-pmβ in the root of my child theme as directed per your instructions and placed a copy of the Directory.php in it.
I placed this entry..
<input type="submit" value="Find" />
as the last entry in the <form> tag structure as per the attached screenshot, in the directory.php.Will this mean it is less likely to break in the future, are there plans to change the code structure for the directory.php file?
If so I can wait or just keep an eye out for for the changes and remove the bypass after your update if there is to be a change?
Kind regards..
Andrew

It works in all ways it hides all management groups from unauthorised roles..in the FEPM settings and in the Dashboard WP profile too unless force added which is even better than I expected.
Fantastic.. You Rock dude..

Just thought this would need to take effect in the users WP profile as I have just remembered that you give the option in the users WP profile to allow the them to add themselves to each group listed in that area too.
Hope that makes sense..

Yes, but not restricting all groups only one or selected groups, otherwise it is as you have said so that I can create a group that will be listed in the person settings for Admin or Editors or contributors or what ever roles I choose only. So if I wanted to exclude subscribers or any other role I could for one or more specific groups.
This then means when a new admin ,editor or contributor comes on board only they will see the extra groups listed in their settings amongst all the other pre created groups listed but not the standard members (users / subscribers role).
Hope that clarify’s the situation.
For clarification I have added two attachments for what I mean below, one as an Admin or designated roles and one as subscriber who will not see the group called management in their settings options.

Don’t research the above..
I have already found a method to change all our users “Display name publicly as” in WP profile from ID to first name last name.
Now autosuggest works like lightning and lists every variant name that I type.. ???? ???? ????
Andrew
Andrew PerrymanParticipantHi Shamim,
Bit confused as this does not help me, all I have ever done when using your add recipient to the TO field is type the first or last name when setting up a new message or adding a recipient to a group!
So it usually finds the names as I type but not all of them is there a problem doing it this way or is the system it not capable as our users will not know any other way to do it, and they will not know each others email address and for GDPR reasons that’s the way I want to keep it.
Does this then mean I have to retro set every WP users ID with the first and last name publicly in the WP profile section as per attached picture?
If so would there be a way to do this in WP-config as I have a lot of users to administer otherwise?
As it is nearly midnight where you, perhaps you could advise me more tomorrow.. π
Have a good nights sleep.

Shamim,
Just as a heads up, as I have asked you before about listing first and last name in the directory listing, I have set the Directory section to show First and Last names in your core function file not in my child function file. I thought I better mention this just in case it has an impact.

Margaret Argent
So that means their ID is the “theargents” from their email theargents@xxxxxx.xx
Andrew
Andrew PerrymanParticipantEvening Shamim,
So yeah, do you mean WP user profile page?
There are a few other names that have the same result I usually paste in the first string of their smtp email address before the @ integer into the TO field, to find the recipient (if it does not find them the normal way by typing in variants of their full names) and that always works.
You thinking that there maybe a white space at the beginning or end of the name as I did try that in the TO box too.
I have all the members WP ID’s set as their email address (first string before the @) to help them remember their ID’s easily, but their Full First and Second Names are always set correctly.
screen shot attached of the members WP profile entry (Margaret Argent).
Hope this helps

No worries Just trying to help if you had mixed messages..????
Andrew PerrymanParticipantPS..
Shamim,One wonders if the “arg” clashes with the search routine because both the name and the surname have it in – but then I would think it would help find a match!
Margaret Argent
M”arg”aret “Arg”entJust wild thoughts..
